If someone does their Private Pilot in a Cessna 172 G1000, is that pilot legally allowed to fly a round-dial cessna 172?
What type of aircraft will this pilot be able to fly?

Yes, legally. It would be prudent to go for a couple of familiarization flights with a CFI for the transition.

As PIC, any airworthy Single Engine LAND plane that weighs less than 12,500 pounds maximum certificated takeoff weight, has less than 200 HP,is not complex or a tailwheel airplane.
Yea you will be allowed to fly round dial aircraft as long as its the same type. land/single engine. You want a few hours in the round dial aircraft with someone who is familiar with it so you get comfortable with it and get familiar with scanning the instruments. It is actually much easier going from glass to round dials. Biggest problem you should have is fixation on your attitude indicator. As long as you get a good scan going you’ll be fine.
Legally–yes. smart–maybe not.
Both are of the same category (aircraft), class (single engine land), and type (not large, turbojet, or other aircraft specified by the FAA)

I would take one flight with my CFI to get comfortable with the steam dials (sucks not having a HSI, direct track, moving map….)
yes they can.
